Here’s how Ranbir Kapoor shed weight for Jagga Jasoos after gaining for Dutt biopic – trainer reveals secrets

Ranbir kapoor underwent tremendous weight gain after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, to shoot for Rajkumar Hirani’s Dutt biopic. But as jagga jasoos incomplete shoot beckoned him, he had to once again, juggle with his weight and bulkiness. Because for Anurag Basu’s film, he is supposed to be a skinny lad. However, because he already bulked up for Dutt, he has had to go through crash diets and rigorous training to get back in shape for Jagga. There is one final schedule that needs to be completed. For the same, the actor has taken trainer Kunal Gir’s help in order to get in form, in the healthiest way possible. Gir informed DNA that RK maintains the various looks through workouts and diets.

“We’re being careful so it isn’t harmful to his body. Crash diets and rigorous exercises usually take a toll.” Ranbir has cut down on the number of meals (from six to four), out of which one meal is zero-carb. “He also doesn’t have his 3 am protein shake anymore.” Gir adds, “Sometimes, he also follows the high-intensity, travel training cardio session when he needs to look leaner. It reduces puffiness. It’s a 10-hour cardio session which is wrapped in 30 minutes. I turn off the treadmill and he continues running on it. It’s extremely taxing with 40-second breaks in between.

In the past too, a lot of Bollywood actors have resorted to weight transformations with a view to get in the skin of the character. For Ranbir though, it’s going to be tough to lose weight and gain again rapidly as he is scheduled to complete Dutt biopic by June or July. Thanks to incessant delays from the production side, Jagga Jasoos has still not been completed. Although the film was slated to have an April release, that has been pushed further ahead.
