A recent research and analysis by researchers into Bollywood films have forced them to conclude that Bollywood movies are "still crazy sexist". The team of researchers analysed as many as 4000 Bollywood movies to reach this verdict. Over the years, women portraying central characters in Hindi cinema have been few and far between. Those portrayed, including the protagonists, are rarely holistic and mostly subject to ingrained biases. “Different features like occupation, introduction of cast in text , associated actions, and descriptions are captured to show the pervasiveness of gender bias and stereotype in movies,” a recent analysis of Bollywood movies by IBM and two Delhi-based institutions revealed. Producer Bhushan Kumar says Akshay Kumar is the best choice to play the role of his late father Gulshan Kumar because both have many similarities. He said: "Akshay is the apt choice for the role because he has many similarities with my father. Both are Punjabis and believes in Vaishno Devi. Talking about Badrinath Ki Dulhania’s day one prospects at the box office, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#BadrinathKiDulhania starts very well. If it maintains the same pace – or gets better in evening – expect a SOLID Day 1.” While the trade was estimating the film to earn Rs 12.25 crore on day one, it may actually do better if the evening shows go full. The film is estimated to be made on a budget of Rs around 45-50 crore including Rs 30 crore as cost of production and Rs 10-15 crore for promotions and advertisements. “The film has been promoted in an amazing way.  So, if we look at the landing cost, one-fourth of it would have been recovered by selling satellite rights for Rs 10-15 crore plus the money they would have recovered by selling music rights, rest would be recovered by the business they will do at the box office,” film distributor Akshaye Akshaye said. Actress Anushka Sharma detained at Mumbai Airport for carrying excess jewellery. “She has claimed that the jewellery is not hers, and that she had borrowed it for the IIFA awards,” said a Customs officer. It is common for actors to borrow jewellery in exchange for the brand’s promotion. They are, however, required to carry a certificate stating the jewels are not for trading purposes and will be brought back. Like Lamba, Sharma was not carrying the certificate, the officer said. Anushka Sharma was carrying gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 35 lakh and watches worth Rs 10 lakh. “She said some 5-6 jewellers had given their jewels to her. One of them is Nutandas Jewellers,” the officer added.
