Go with the flow The latest buzzword in men’s hairstyles, the Lax bro cut or Bro flow, encourages men to grow longer and messier dos
If you’re tired of the buzzcut and are looking for something new to shake things up a bit, there’s good news. This year is all about embracing one’s natural texture and now men can do that too. Touted to be the coolest hairstyle for 2017, the Bro flow, as seen on Hollywood hotties Bradley Cooper, Milo Ventimiglia, Shia LaBeouf and recently Dev Patel, allows men to grow out their locks. The slightly messy do takes a few months to achieve the perfect length and while maintenance is minimal, it does involve a whole lot of more in-shower grooming.
Numerous styling options
Nitin Manchanda, Technical Head, Schwarzkopf Professional India, feels it’s been a while since the short undercuts have ruled the salons and now it’s time to add a new trend. “This look is best achieved on medium to long hair length, with hair styled as if it is naturally wind-blown towards the back. One good thing about this trend is that it gives numerous styling options and you can achieve a slightly shaggy or natural flowing waves look. The beard has been a strong trend, and Bro flow is one of the best suited hairstyles with this look and gives a masculine feel. Though this hairstyle is easy to achieve, a little blowdry and a small amount of defining cream will help perfect the look,” he says.
Needs extra care
The Bro flow was popular in the 80’s and 90’s and it’s back again, says Jaykishan Anant Pawar, Assistant Manager in Training, Truefitt & Hill. “Women too like this look on men as it gives a very hot and raw appearance. Men also want to look different and this definitely makes one stand out. For those who are planning to sport this look, one has to be mentally prepared to take extra care of themselves. One needs to be patient to get the desired flow as the long and unkempt flow takes a while. Awkward hair days will initially be a hassle but you need to have patience and use a styling product to manage your hair. One also needs to do a lot more shampooing and conditioning then they normally do. Oiling the scalp is suggested for better nourishment,” adds Pawar.
Suits Indian men
Carey Vaz, Senior Stylist, Nalini of Nalini & Yasmin Salon opines the Lax bro style makes it look like the guy has a carefree coolness about himself. “I personally feel that it’s a really good style option for men with wavy hair. Not much of cutting or salon upkeep is required. Just add some shape with a trim and you’re good to go. This does suit Indian men, in fact in Bollywood both Arjun Rampal and Hritik Roshan have sported this do in the past,” adds Vaz.
